
Gloucestershire Chest Fund
PATRON: HIS GRACE THE DUKE OF BEAUFORT PRESIDENT: Dr Willie Carson, O.B.E.
Mrs Doreen Roberts, a lifelong sufferer of chest disease, who wanted to do something to repay the care she had received from Dr. John Prior at Standish Hospital, set up the Fund in 1991.
To date the Fund has raised, and mostly spent, £462,000.
Doreen sadly died in December 1999 but her dream continues. Each year individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the charity are honoured with the award in Doreen's memory.

Mrs. Hilary Howe seen receiving the award from Dr. Ananthakrishnam Raghuram

Hilary Howe is a ‘long time supporter’ of the Gloucestershire Chest Fund. She is rarely missing from Car Park and Supermarket collections, services a collecting box in a Stroud Convenience store. She also sells more than her share of draw tickets and often donates prizes herself. Dr. Raghuram, Trustee of the Gloucestershire Chest Fund was delighted to present the award.
Doreen Roberts Award 2008
Mrs. Julia Wintle, though far from well herself, has for many years done her best for the Gloucestershire Chest Fund. Julia, ably helped by her daughter, has run several very successful coffee mornings, made and sold craft items and made beautiful Christmas cards for resale.

Dr. Roy Lamb, one of the longest serving Trustees was pleased to make the presentation.
